Basic Informaion

The Salt Lake Chapter is thrilled to welcome the West Region back to Salt Lake City June 11-15. You’ll enjoy 23 concerts and recitals, great workshops and master classes, a banquet dinner, evening receptions, and much more. Our diverse artist roster includes Kimberly Marshall, Kenneth Udy, Jaebon Hwang, Pamela Decker, and Stephen Tharp. Richard Elliott and the Orchestra at Temple Square will present Alexandre Guilmant’s Symphony No. 2, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will perform in their renowned home venue. Take in a museum exhibit celebrating the Tabernacle Organ’s 150th anniversary.

Some optional excursions are available, including a carillon recital by Don Cook, or open console visits to three different M.L. Bigelow pipe organs. There’s plenty of great pre-convention events, too. If you come a day early (Saturday June 10), attend Tabernacle Organist Clay Christiansen’s solo concert on the Tabernacle organ. Sunday morning, attend the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s “Music and the Spoken Word” broadcast. A variety of worship options are available within walking distance.

All schedules listed below are based on utilizing convention transportation from the Salt Lake Sheraton hotel. A more detailed schedule is available on the program page.

Convention begins: Sunday June 11, 7pm
Convention ends: Thursday June 15, 3pm

The daily schedule for full days, Monday June 12 – Wednesday June 14, begins at 8 am with bus loading for a 9 am concert. Buses return to the hotel at various points through the day. Scheduling points are included for meals each day. The hotel is located near to most venues, and is accessible by a short walk, utilizing free light rail transportation downtown, or with a service like Uber if an attendee wishes to return to the hotel on their own. Venues have limited parking and attendees are strongly encouraged to utilize convention transportation to stay on the convention schedule and avoid issues with parking.

We strongly encourage you to register online. There is an option through online registration to print an invoice and mail in your payment if you prefer not to pay online. Our web site uses leading technology, including SSL encryption for all personal information, including payment information. Your payment information is not stored.

Additionally, registering online will allow your registration to be processed much faster and hold spots for limited spot events.

Registration information

Register to attend the 2017 AGO West Region Convention. Complete convention registration includes access to all basic convention events, including 23 concerts, 15+ lectures, breakout sessions, workshops, and master classes, the regional meeting/banquet, and more. All convention dates (June 11-15) and some pre-convention events are included. Some add-on items are available separately (convention transportation, optional excursions, workshop add-on items, master class performances, etc.). If you plan to use or participate in any of these, be sure to add them to your cart before checking out!

Some add-on items are available below which correspond to schedule options on the registration page. Please be sure if you purchase additional items, like the excursions, that you select the corresponding schedule item on the checkout page.

Convention Registration


Purchase comfortable, convenient, and affordable convention transportation by bus to all convention events. Enjoy your convention experience by not worrying about parking, traffic, or scheduling. If you live near Salt Lake City, you can also commute to the hotel, park for free, and board the convention bus!

Convention highlights

Attend convention highlight events: each day’s major concerts, the convention banquet, and evening receptions. This option is only available for spouses traveling with a full convention registrant, or current Salt Lake or Utah Valley chapter members who work during the day and cannot attend the full convention (available April 4). Optional Excursions

Two optional excursions are available during the convention schedule on Wednesday June 14. Travel to BYU in Provo, Utah to hear a carillon recital by Don Cook, followed by a tour of the BYU organ department. Or, spend some time at the keyboard with an open console organ tour with Michael Bigelow, President of M.L. Bigelow & Co. as he guides a tour of three of his company’s instruments. Both optional excursions include lunch. Other convention events which are included in the base registration are available during this time block.

Please note: these excursions run concurrently on Wednesday June 14, so an individual cannot participate in both events.

Mobility requirements: participants for the Bigelow organ tour must be able to climb stairs to reach the organ loft at two locations.

Breakout/Workshop Add-on Items

Several add-on items for workshop and breakout sessions are available here. These include: choral packets (required for choral reading sessions) and master class application slots. Make sure to select the corresponding schedule items on the registration form.

Master Class Application Slots

There is no additional cost to participate in or attend either master class. However, those wishing to perform must apply. The master classes run concurrently, so it is not possible to participate in both; however, those interested may apply for both events. Selected participants will be notified in advance of the convention, and will have some time to set registrations and prepare on the master class instruments.
